Each week we will be doing a poem. Poetry is a great way for students to increase phonemic awareness, learn new vocabulary, practice decoding, and improve fluency. Plus, they are a lot of fun! This week we had a lot of fun working with the poem, "Fire! Fire! Cried Mrs. McGuire." In the pictures below you can see the students working on illustrations to match the poem. One student even felt inspired to create his own "Fire! Fire!" poem. I think it turned out pretty neat! :)
